Introduction
tl;dr I'm going to make things; One of the people I enjoy listing too tells me I should document so here I am.
Hi Everyone,
I'm educated as a Computer Scientist and employed as a Software Engineer, ask me sometime and I’ll talk about how those differ. I got a 3d printer (posts about it and mods coming) because I wanted a hobby where I make real things. My enjoyment of learning and making led me to Makers YouTube. To quote a video on Makers Muse that really resonated with me: "As a species we build on what was done before us". ... I want to make something real, and documenting it could leave some lasting impact from my being here: WOW. So I'm in. I'll try and write my thoughts and what I'm doing here, maybe even make a YouTube video or two if there’s something exciting to record.
But before I talk about my projects, I thought I'd introduce myself. In the furry community I go by Iauvw Tigerpaw, but most people just call me Tigerpaw (we English speakers have trouble with 3 vowels side by side). I'm a fennec, which I like to think explains why I'm a little frenetic, always on the go, and have lots of projects in my head. My trade and training tend to influence my approach to problems, but I'm going to try to resist leaning on software to solve my problems and let the science and engineering sides shine through :) I also have what my husband describes as a Dad sense of humor.
Here’s a sample of my active projects. Plotty is a robot to drive on paper and plot (I've always wondered why printers needed to be contained). A project to use computer vision as a replacement for a linear encoder (part of a bigger project), Finally, I'm building a little quadcopter drone (mostly stock components put together with a 3d printed frame). I don't really know in what the cadence I'll be posting, but hopefully you'll hear from me soon.
Thanks everyone, and remember to make some noise!
Iauwv Tigerpaw
